It can be done? Sure
Can it be done economically? Probably not

Ever wondered why in all electric vehicles are small, alliances decision? Because they are big and heavy as the Yukon. It would be very electric motors for propulsion and batteries enough to power the motors.

As others have written, you can conversion kits are available, but with equipment costs $ 10,000 or more (plus the additional cost for installation) are at a price of $ 15,000 or assume (more in, you can provide a mechanic for the job found).

With an estimate of your "5/gallon break-even point is about 3000 liters of fuel. Assuming that you only 15MPG, which is about 45,000 miles without the cost of electricity.

The volume would probably also limited to 50-70 miles per charge or less, and the towing capacity is minimal or nonexistent.

Wait a few years and buy a Chevy Volt (delivery expected 2010) http://www.ecogeek.org/content/view/420/ ...

It is feasible, but it is better to do more to save fuel. The Yukon XL is a great vehicle. It would be difficult to convert, and you are there for a very limited range. It is better to turn to another alternative fuel E85 (if not already) be able to biodiesel (for diesel), hybrid or CNG.

could be changed, but the vehicle weight, with batteries are very heavy and the supply is scarce. You can not always see the websites and ask questions.
